The brief
A pub, lit for the trading season rather than for a family photograph. The landlord's requirement was commercial from the start: it had to look good from the road, survive a full December of weather, come on and off without staff involvement, and not fail on a Friday night.
This is the install that proves we work beyond residential.
What we installed
- Commercial-grade warm white across the full frontage roofline and gable
- Signage and entrance framed so the pub name is legible from the approach
- Garland and wreaths at door height, dressed to survive being brushed past a thousand times a night
- Festoon over the outside seating area, at a height that clears heads and equipment
- One timed, switched supply, set to trading hours
The constraint
Public access and trading hours. Installation was staged before opening, with the working area cordoned and the footway kept clear. Everything was fixed so that nothing sits within reach of a customer, and nothing can be pulled down by one.
Weather resistance is not optional on a commercial frontage: the season is longer, the exposure is greater, and a failure is a visible one. All fittings were rated for permanent outdoor use, with sealed connections at every joint.
The result
A frontage that trades. The lighting reads clearly from the road, comes on at trading hours without a staff member touching a switch, and was maintained through the season on a single point of contact.
Covered by £10m public liability insurance, with a documented working-at-height method.
